Ecuador Jungle Tours  

Pañacocha Program (Piranha Lake) 5 days 4 nights

After a long Andean climbing adventure, experience Ecuador Rainforest. It provides a excellent opportunity to witness the biodiversity and wonder of the jungle. With EAI in collaboration with local indians, a Jungle trip of 5 days and 4 nights can be a great escape from the cold mountain peaks and provide a once in a life time opportunity to explore the mystery and beauty of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Day 01: Quito fly to Coca – Pañayacu – Pañacocha
From Coca, we will take a motorized canoe and begin our trip along the Napo River until we reach the Pañayacu River. It will take approximately five hours, with lunch along the way. Our final destination will be Pañacocha Lodge, where we will take a short walk before dinner and bed.

Day 02: Pañacocha
After breakfast we will go for a walk through the rainforest, looking at and learning about different kinds of medicinal plants, trees and insects. Later that afternoon we will navigate up the Pañayacu River in canoe for about two hours, experiencing some of the incredible flora and fauna of the area. This will be a perfect time to bird watch, take pictures and see many wild animals in their natural habitat.

Day 03: Pañacocha and the surrounding lagoons
In the morning we will go by dugout paddle canoe through the lagoons and mangroves where we will see several types of native birds such as “caciques”, “oropéndolas” and “hoatzins”. In the late afternoon you will try your hand at piranha fishing and get the chance to see pink fresh water dolphins.


Day 04:
Pañacocha
After breakfast we will do some birdwatching around Pañacocha and then walk for about two hourse through the rainforest. Later that evening we will go out in the canoes to spot caimans.

Day 05: Pañacocha – Rio Napo – Coca .
There will be a chance for early morning activity before departure. Later, we will navigate upriver to Coca, with a chance to visit a native Amazonian family along the way. We will stop for lunch on the river before arriving in Coca.
